What is iTerp?
iTerp is a Sign-Language interpreting provider to all business sorts.
“i” = Instant
“Terp” = Short for interpreter. Terp is the abbreviation for interpreter that is used within the sign language interpreting and D/deaf and hard-of-hearing (HOH) community.
Is my business required to provide an interpreter for my hearing impaired customer(s)?
Yes! Per the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), it is required that your company provide a sign language interpreter.
To learn more about this law, click here: https://www.ada.gov/effective-comm.htm
Don’t sweat it! We’re here to help. Prior to making the request for a sign language interpreter, feel free to reach out to your client. S/he would appreciate being consulted to determine the most effective form of communication.

What’s an “Assignment”?
An assignment refers to your meeting appointment with the D/deaf and HOH individual. It can also refer to a doctor’s appointment, job interview or etc.
Is there a contract commitment when signing up?
No. There are no contractual commitments or monthly membership payments when signing up with iTerp. Signing up is entirely free!
What’s required to sign up?
- First and Last name/Contact person
- Company Name
- Address
- Industry your company operates in
- Payment information
- Term & Conditions agreement
How does the payment process work?
It’s easy! When you are in the process of signing up, you will be directed to our third party payment processor, Stripe. Here, you will provide your payment information.
How long can I reserve a sign-language interpreter for?
To meet industry standards, there is a 2-hour minimum to all interpreter requests. There is no maximum time limit but, if the assignment or event will be more than 2 hours, it will be required to have two interpreters.
What happens if the assignment goes over the 2-hour limit?
If the assignment runs his/her time over the 2-hour mark, an additional full hour charge has been charged. For example, if the meeting is two hours and three minutes long, your company will be billed for three hours.
Is there a difference in pricing when an assignment goes beyond the 2-hour limit?
No. This is another great advantage of using our service. Prices do not go up or down when an interpreter must remain on site beyond the 2-hour time limit. After the 2-hour limit, charges will be made for each hour the interpreter remains on site. Please be considerate and allow the interpreter to find time to cancel another assignment following your assignment, if needed. This allows another available interpreter to pick up the cancelled assignment so we can fulfill all iTerp’s obligations.
How far in advance must an interpreter be requested?
There is no limit but, the more notice given in advance you requested an interpreter, the more guarantee the request will be filled.
Do last-minute requests affect the cost of the interpreter per assignment?
No. iTerp’s cost for an interpreter is the same across the board. Regardless of the situation or when an interpreter is requested, prices do not fluctuate. We are committed to providing excellent service whenever needed with no additional fees like other agencies out there.
What should we do if an interpreter cancels at the last-minute?
There is nothing you need to do. When an interpreter cancels an assignment, the assignment is redistributed to all the interpreters in your geographical location. We always monitor assignment requests. If an interpreter is unable to fill in your request, we will be in contact with you and you will not be billed for the trouble. We will do our very best to ensure this does not happen!
